Dishevelled

I went for a walk yesterday, saying hello and smiling at those I passed. Elderly lady, head down, no eye contact. Business man, head down, no eye contact. And the pattern repeated. All seemed shocked at my greeting. A few smiled back in surprise.

Then I rounded a corner and there was a homeless looking, dishevelled man sitting on a bike, smoking. Before I even registered he was there he gave a friendly wave and a big toothless smile as he said good morning. My spirit lifted.

It's amazing where you bump into a bit of heaven in your day and how much that can challenge your prejudices!
